This information sheet is prepared as a guide to Warfield Parish Council activities and to services available to residents of Warfield. If you have a service you would like included in the next issue, please advise the Parish Clerk.

Additionally if you have any issues that you would like the Parish Council to consider, please bring them to the attention of the Parish Clerk.

The population of Warfield is about 8800 and the number of registered electors is about 7300. The Band ‘D’ Council tax for 2007/8 is £1,183.58 of which £29.41 is the Parish Precept.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS

These are open to the public and are held in the Parish Office, 7 County Lane, Warfield (Tesco site). Meeting dates and times can be obtained from the Parish Office or from the web site. The next Parish Assembly at which all residents may air their views is April 2008 although monthly surgeries are held in the Parish Office on the first Saturday of the month 10.00 am till noon. The Brownlow Hall Management Committee meetings monthly in the Brownlow Memorial Hall. Meeting dates and times can be obtained from the Parish Office or from the web site.

Meadowbrook Montessori School is a privately owned pre-school and primary school admitting children from 3 to 12 years, at Malt Hill, Warfield RG42 6JQ. Contact the Head : Serena Gunn; phone 890869.

AFTER SCHOOL AND HOLIDAY CLUB

WASPS (Warfield After School and Holiday Club), it is open on half term, holidays and after school at the Warfield School site. Afternoons from 3 to 3.30 and in the summer holidays and half term from 8.45 am to 6 pm.

CHURCHES

There are four Warfield Churches with a combined membership of approximately 500.

Worship times are: Sundays at 9.30am, 11.15am with Sunday Schools at each service.

At 6.30pm. there is a joint Warfield Churches’ evening celebration in the Parish Church

In addition teenage worship and teaching [Pathfinders] takes place at 10.00am each Sunday in the Brownlow Hall.

All churches have House or Cell Groups and many other activities from bell ringing to Church Walks!, from music groups to Alpha Courses to find out more about a faith in Christ.

GUIDES AND BROWNIES

Rainbows meet in the Brownlow Hall, on Monday to Thursday evenings, Brownies on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Guides on Friday evenings. The packs are generally full, but Mrs Janet Russell, 25 Redditch, Bracknell RG12 OTT, phone 451276 may be contacting about the waiting lists.

There are no Scouts or Cubs in Warfield. The nearest Scouts are 2nd Bracknell Scout group. There are Beaver Scouts, Cup Scouts and Scouts in the group. More information is available on www.2ndbracknell.co.uk

WARFIELD PARK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

This is a social event organised for the residents of Warfield Mobile Home Park. Various activities take place in the Community Hall in the Elms, either weekly or monthly, including craft making, keep fit, gardening, darts and a quiz. WOMENS INSTITUTE

The Womens Institute holds meetings at the Brownlow Hall on the second Thursday of each month. Contact Janet Boyles 884563.

WARFIELD PLAYERS

The Warfield Players have several productions each year. If you would like to become involved or would like to know more about their productions contact Kathryn Harris on 882962

WARFIELD VILLAGE FETE

This is held annually on the Memorial Ground. If you would like to become involved or be prepared to lend a hand on the day contact Elaine Chalmers-Brown on 307030.

PRODUCE SHOW

The produce show is held annually on the Memorial Ground with a wide range of categories from vegetables to wine making and childrens' craft making and painting. For more information, a full list of categories and entry forms please contact Peter Thompson on 454996.

PUMPKIN SHOW

Normally held on the third Sunday in September in the Plough and Harrow car park. The competition is for the biggest pumpkin grown and there is also a best decorated category. Adults and children may enter. For further details please contact Phillipa Robinson on 01189 781940.

* The Memorial Ground at the heart of the village is the site of summer cricket and the village fete.

LIBRARY

Opening hours: Monday 2-5, Tuesday 10-1/2-5, Wednesday –closed, Thursday 10-2/2-5, Friday 2-7,

Saturday 10-1/2-4.

Membership of the library is free and includes one-hour free access to the Internet per day. The library has a copying service, and a large range of books, DVDs, videos, CD Roms, audio books to rent and greeting cards for sale.

DOCTORS SURGERIES

There are two doctors’ surgeries in Warfield, both at the Warfield Green Medical Centre at 1 County Lane near Tesco.

Part of Warfield is also served by the Green Meadows Practice, The Avenue, North Ascot, Phone 621627.

There are no other medical services in Warfield. Please check the yellow pages or web site for other doctors’ surgeries, dentists, opticians etc.

 

POLICE

The Warfield village beat officer is PC Robert Crawford, who can be contacted at Bracknell police station.

TRANSPORT LINKS

Bus numbers 53,53A,53B162,163 and 192 serve various parts of Warfield. Bus times and routes are available from Bracknell Bus Station or Whitegrove Library.

The 190 bus goes from the Bus Station to Heathrow, and the others to Wokingham, Reading, Crowthorne, Camberley, Ascot, Windsor, Slough and London (Victoria)
